COVID-19 Update 18—Buildings Are Closed

COVID-19 Update 18—Buildings Are Closed
Posted on 04/24/2020

Dear Transylvania County Schools families,

Today, our governor and state education leaders announced that all school buildings will remain closed through the end of the school year, but learning never stops! We will continue to provide teaching, student support, and meals through the last day of the school year on June 3.

We know you have many questions including policies for grading and promotion, as well as graduation and picking up your children’s belongings. Your child’s principal will be sending home information about some of these topics, and we will share more news as it becomes available.

Administrators and teachers are still working through several options for graduation, now that the schedule has been set for the remainder of the year. While we rely on public health officials for further guidance, we will also provide opportunities for parents and students to join this conversation in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and for always being ready to help one another in the most difficult times. Because of you, we are ready to face our most challenging school year ever and come through it stronger together.

Additional messages are coming from your school this weekend, and we will send the next district-wide update by Sunday evening.

Above all—please stay home, stay connected with us and your community, and stay safe.
