COVID-19 Health Update—Sat, Feb 29, 2020
Posted on 02/29/2020

Transylvania County Schools enjoys a strong partnership with Transylvania Public Health, and we follow the guidance and expertise of local, state, and federal health officials to safeguard the wellness of our students, staff, and everyone who visits our schools.

TCS is aware that the Centers for Disease Control and Protection is monitoring an outbreak of COVID-19, the disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus. At this time, there are no cases of COVID-19 reported by the CDC in North Carolina.

Governor Cooper recently established a Task Force and asked communities to increase measures to prepare for any potential outbreak.

There are no additional precautions advised for residents of Transylvania County at this time.

Health experts continue to state that the best ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are the same as recommendations to prevent spreading the flu. The CDC also posted an important list of facts about coronavirus to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Dr. Jeff McDaris and Alan Justice released this *10-minute video to reassure families about our current level of preparedness and the key role of our school nurses and Transylvania Public Health.
