Transylvania County is proud to have the Marine Corp JROTC program serving all three of its high schools. The cadets gathered on Wednesday for their promotion ceremony at Brevard High School. Parents and members from the community attended the event and were invited to do pushups with the cadets to begin the program. Then the cadets were given their promotional ranks and insignia pins. The MC JROTC program is focused on preparing students to become better citizens. #TCSTogether

Brevard High School is excited to announce the appointment of Jeff Rice as the new head coach of the Blue Devils wrestling team. A proud alumnus of Brevard High, Class of 1985, Jeff brings with him a wealth of experience, a deep connection to our community, and a strong commitment to the sport of wrestling.
After graduating from Brevard High School, Jeff continued his academic and athletic journey at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where he earned his degree in 1990. As a former wrestler at both BHS and UNC Pembroke, Jeff has a profound understanding of the sport and what it takes to succeed at the highest levels.
Jeff’s coaching career spans over two decades, with 20 years dedicated to leading the wrestling program at Rosman High School. He also spent five years coaching in South Carolina at Easley and Walhalla High Schools, where he made significant contributions to the development of young athletes.
Jeff is married to Gala, and together they have raised three children: Christina, Caleb, and Joshua. They are also proud grandparents to Aven, Zane, Collin, and Sophia, who bring joy to their lives.
In Jeff’s own words, “I believe in hard work and dedication to the sport. Fundamentals are a must. I’m very honored to get a chance to lead the Blue Devils this upcoming season.”
Brevard High School is thrilled to have Jeff Rice at the helm of our wrestling program. His passion for wrestling, commitment to building strong athletes, and dedication to our school’s values make him the perfect fit for this role. We look forward to an exciting season under his leadership.
