Transylvania County Schools provides a comprehensive salary and benefits package to qualified staff. The information below is a summary of the compensation and benefits offered. It does not contain detailed regulations governing the various benefit programs. Contact the Business Services Department to obtain the official regulations or see the North Carolina Benefits and Employment Policy Manual.
Job classification, years of service, full-time or part-time employment, and the number of months worked each year determine the kinds and levels of benefits available. The Finance Department can provide more detailed information regarding local benefits and compensation.
New Hires Have 30 Days To Enroll In All Benefits (i.e. Health, Life, Dental, Vision, etc.) Please sign up for a benefits meeting.
Please carefully and thoroughly review all of the information below BEFORE registering for a time slot to attend a new employee benefits meeting. You must complete all steps at the bottom of this page within 30 days of your start date.
1. Make an appointment to attend a new employee benefits meeting.
2. You will receive an email from Email Us with instructions on enrolling in the State Health Plan. If you do not enroll within thirty (30) days of your start date, you must wait until the next annual enrollment for health insurance or have a qualifying life event. Please visit the New Employee Resource Center to view the new employee presentation, new employee enrollment kit, and step-by-step enrollment instructions.
3. Before or after attending this meeting, make sure the Human Resources Department has made a copy of your driver's license, Social Security card, and Health Examination Certificate and, if applicable, a copy of your teaching credentials, work authorization documents, and/or Title I document.
